About Me

What is Nail Me?

I've always liked nail polish.  Now that my kids are not babies anymore, I've been painting my nails a lot and have gotten sucked in to the world of polish blogs.  I started a board on Pinterest for polishes that I covet, and have been posting photos of some of my manicures on Facebook, but decided I wanted another place online to put the polishes I'm using and the ones I can't wait to get someday.

Who is Rachael?

My name is Rachael Heiner, and I was born in November, 1980 in Pennsylvania - a piece of my heart still lives in Philly.

I met my husband, Justin, when we were both 19, and we were married three years later. As of 2011, we've been married for 7 years, and celebrated 10 years as a couple in December 2009.

In May 2006 we were blessed with the birth of Sam, our son. He is the blondest blondie in blondetown and we love him to pieces.  He is currently finding out all about the real world in Kindergarten and kind of obsessed with all things Mario.

In May of 2010, only 8 days after Sam turned 4 we welcomed our second son, Danny, into the family.  He's gotten blonder with time, so now I have a matching set.

I've been a writer for as long as I can remember.  As a little girl, I wrote stories and then continued to start a journal when I was in 5th grade.  I have written articles, papers, short stories, poetry and journals over the years, and now I'm here in the virtual world.  I do some freelance ghostwriting online, and though it's currently on hold until we get used to being a family of four, I can't wait to do more someday soon.

I went to school at the University of Washington and earned my degree in Business Administration in 2001. I went to work doing HR, but left when I had Sam. From the time he was 18 months, I worked part time for a year doing HR Administration until I was laid off in September 08. I looked for a job for a while, but as of now my only job is taking care of Sam and Danny.  It's harder than any "real" job I've ever had!

We live in Bellingham, WA, which is about an hour and a half north of Seattle. It's a college town, not too big, not too small. I love the creative atmosphere and find that I have been writing a lot more since we moved back, as well as reading more books. There are tons of places to go walking and lots of parks to play in.  If you're visiting Bellingham, you should definitely check out Boulevard Park, Village Books, Fairhaven Toy Garden, Bayou on Bay, La Fiamma, and Mallards.
